Open call OrbitFest

Groningen will be glowing this winter during the futuristic winter light festival ‘OrbitFest’! On the 21st of December, the shortest day of the year, makers from all over Groningen and surrounding areas will furnish the Ebbingekwartierterrein at the Boterdiep (close to the city centre of Groningen) with a freely accessible light festival. With its narrative programme components, this introductory edition of OrbitFest: Into Orbit merges fantasy and reality into one and aims at enticing the senses.

At the moment ColorC festival organisation is in the process of preparing the programme for OrbitFest 2014, as well as that for the 2015 edition. We offer a platform for people from all over Groningen and surrounding areas, who make futuristic sense stimulating work and utilise as much as possible sustainable material and work processes. ColorC is open to the makers, workshop presenters and volunteers, who would like to contribute to the coming festival and future productions. We’re looking for:

  • makers who would like to exhibit their indoor and/or outdoor (weatherproof) light installations or ambient lighting objects during the winter light expo (or have future plans for such work) and/or would like to sell these objects at the winter market;
  • makers who have compiled an interactive test setup regarding energy, food, health or machines and would like to present it at the winterlab;
  • makers of futuristic ambient music who would like to have their recordings broadcast at the festival location during OrbitFest ;
  • workshop presenters who would like to give light workshops to visitors. Light workshops can include, for example, the processing of light in home and garden décors, clothing and accessories (wearables), cosmetics etc. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to present their work as community light art at the end of the festival;
  • workshop presenters who would like to conduct research workshops with visitors on topics such as energy, food, health or machines in the winter lab;
  • volunteers who would like to support our team during the festival. We are looking for runners and assistants regarding information, supervision, the assembly and disassembly of installations, catering, sanitation and assisting during workshops.

Would you like to join our team or you would like additional information, then please do not hesitate to contact the ColorC festival organisation via the OrbitFest website or 06-44390667.
Hope to hear from you soon and otherwise see you at OrbitFest!
